C&C Marina Becomes Bradenton Boat Club

The new Bradenton Boat Club marina and boat condominium is emerging from the former C&C Marina in Cortez. Construction is progressing on 3 buildings that will accommodate 272 boats in dry storage, and 10 wet slips. The $17 million boat storage project won out over residential usage of the 4 acre site as other boating facilities declined in the area.

Three other marinas and storage shut down in the last few years as developers pursued residential demand and rising prices. Marinas on Pine Ave and Holmes Beach were torn down to make way for housing.

The Perico Island marina redevelopment, which began with great fanfare as ‘Seven Shores’ by Arvida (St Joe Corp) has subsequently been shelved since the real estate market collapse and the lack of pre-sales for the project’s condos. The Perico boat storage business vacated its premises and now the building sits empty.

Bradenton Boat Club is currently selling storage spaces ranging from $65,000 to $115,00 dry, and $130,000 per wet slip. Vehicle access to BBC is off Cortez Road at 123rd Street, and boat traffic will use the canal connecting with Anna Maria Sound.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the Cortez Bridge, the Bradenton Beach Marina services vessels up to 80 feet in its yard with a 77-ton Travel Lift. Their dry storage takes boats up to 40 feet and wet slips up to 60 feet.
