Surf Report from White Ave, Holmes Beach

Written on January 18, 2008 – 3:53 pm | by Mike |

115_1511 Yesterday’s cold front brought overnight wind from the SW and a wind swell of up to 6 feet on the Gulf of Mexico.

Area surfers soon converged on their favorites spots, one of them being Anna Maria Island’s White Ave location.

There were 40 - 60 surfers at the beach break all day.

The wind dropped early and conditions improved as the tide changed. By evening there were still 30 - 40 guys out, perhaps boosted by the upcoming holiday weekend for Martin Luther King Day on Monday.

Water temperatures are holding near 70°, and the air temperature stayed a comfortable 74°. The forecast for the weekend is cloudy and mild turning sunny and cooler Sunday.
