Presidential Primary Smackdown Comes to Florida

The candidates contesting for their party’s nomination for the 2008 Presidential Election will be campaigning for supporters this week culminating in the Tuesday 29th vote.

Hot on the heels of the Saturday’s South Carolina Primary, attention focuses on Florida for a clue as to who can gain an edge.

So far there has been no clear favorite in either the Republican or Democratic Party candidates. Some have already dropped out, even though their names remain on the ballot.

Floridians eligible to participate in the primary must have pre-registered their party affiliation, which is not binding for the actual Presidential Election in November.

Tuesday’s polls will be from 7 am to 7 pm. at Island locations of Anna Maria City Hall, Gloria Dei Church, St Bernard Catholic Church, and Tingley Memorial Library.

Also on the ballot is Amendment 1. (see separate story.)

State primaries or caucuses continue in the next few months with many being simultaneously held on February 5th, known as Super Tuesday, when a leading contender for each party’s nomination should become apparent.
